On the evening of September 15th, the Better Future Finders Young Leaders Club kicked off its first official meeting with energy and purpose. The meeting brought together pre-registered teens from Selah High School—Maya, Chrity, Abby—and others who had intended to join but were caught up in games and couldn’t make it to the 90-minute gathering. Hosted by our Youth Coordinator and a Youth Ambassador, the meeting was designed to ensure the Club aligns with their ideas and aspirations, while also checking their agreement with our mission and values. I had the privilege of presenting the Club’s vision and mission, unveiling our creed, and setting the tone for what’s ahead. A board member was also in attendance to show support and offer guidance. The atmosphere was hopeful and inspiring. We wrapped the formal part with a leadership game that sparked conversation and self-reflection, followed by a snack break where laughter, ideas, and new friendships formed. The evening ended with a promise: the youth left not just excited, but committed to bringing more peers onboard, to contribute their unique voices to the Club. It was a strong start—grounded in connection, clarity, and a shared belief in what Better Future Finders can help us become.
